SEATTLE, WA – According to a press release from the athletic department, Seattle University’s men’s basketball Western Athletic Conference games scheduled for Friday, Jan. 22 and Saturday, Jan. 23 at Tarleton State have been canceled due to COVID-19 protocols.

This will mark the 2nd and 3rd games cancelled due to COVID-19 protocols within the team. Previously, their 2nd matchup with Utah Valley on Saturday, January 16th was cancelled due to the exact same protocols. No further information has been released on whether a player, member of the coaching staff or any game day personal were the ones to test positive.

In accordance with WAC regulations for the season, the games are not rescheduled at this time, but could be if the two teams find themselves with a common off date in the future. Conference standings and seeding for the 2021 Hercules Tires WAC Basketball Tournament will be based on a formula that takes into account both winning percentage and the percentage of games played.

As of now, the next scheduled games for the Redhawks will be February 12th & 13th vs New Mexico State in Seattle. Another back-to-back with Chicago State was meant to be played the last week of January, but they shut down their program earlier in the year. SU will now go nearly a month without playing a game after being one of the few teams in the nation to avoid any major cancellations to their season.
