MLS Announces 2021 Season Start Dates

Major League Soccer announced on Monday that the 2021 regular season will kickoff on April 3rd. Also announced was that teams are permitted to begin preseason training on Feb. 22, six weeks prior to MLS is Back opening weekend.

The season will consist of 34 matches in the regular season with Decision Day on Nov. 7th. The playoffs are slated to begin on Nov. 19th with the MLS Cup being held on Saturday, Dec. 11th.

The season will also include the usual in year tournaments. The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, Canadian Championship and Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League will all, for now, be played. The league also plans on holding the MLS All-Star Game this season after not being abing to play it last year. The host city and opponent are still TBD.

  • Nov. 19: Audi 2021 MLS Cup Playoffs begin
  • Dec. 11: 2021 MLS Cup
