SEATTLE – The Seattle Kraken add two new pieces to their front office as the franchise gears up for their first season in the NHL.

Jason Botterill and Norm Maciver were announced as the new hires on Tuesday. Both have long backgrounds in the league as they both are former players who went into front office jobs after hanging up their skates. Botterill will be the assistant general manager while Maciver will fill the role of director of player personnel.

Botterill spent 10-years with the Pittsburgh Penguins and was apart of three Stanley Cup titles in 2009, 2016 and 2017. Maciver has been with the Chicago Blackhawks for the past 14 seasons and not to be outdone, also won three Stanley Cup titles in 2010, 2013 and 2015.

The Seattle Kraken have a little over seven months to scout and prepare for the expansion draft ahead of their first season. The expansion draft is set for July 21st while the entry draft will take place just a couple days later on the 23rd and 24th. That will be followed by free agency starting on the 28th.
