Venezuela faced off against Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic on March 12th. Venezuela got on the board early thanks to Salvador Perez’s RBI single in the first inning. Immediately afterwards, Anthony Santander crushed a three-run home run to bring the score to 4-0. In the second inning, Salvador Pèrez went yard for a second Venezuela three-run homer. Eddie Rosario responded for Puerto Rico with a home run to bring the score to 7-1. Puerto Rico broke through in the sixth inning, scoring four runs and one more in the eighth. Venezuela would go on to win 9-6.
