Venezuela faced off against Israel in the 2023 World Baseball Classic. In the first inning, Venezuela scored three runs to give them a comfortable lead to start the game thanks to Ronald Acuna Jr. and Eugenio Suarez. In the fourth inning, Edward Escobar cranked a home run to center field to give Venezuela a 4-0 lead. Venezuela carried their momentum into the sixth inning thanks to Eugenio Suarez’s home run. In the bottom on the seventh, Jakob Goldfarb hit an RBI single to put Israel on the board to limit the deficit against Venezuela, 5-1. Venezuela would secure the win and advance to the next round of the World Baseball Classic.
