The USA took on Venezuela in the 2023 World Baseball Classic Quarterfinals and it was electric from the start. The USA took an early 3-0 lead in the first inning behind RBI singles by Mike Trout, Paul Goldschmidt and Kyle Tucker.Luis Arraez helped Venezuela strike back with a two-run homer. Kyle Tucker extended the USA lead to 5-2 after a solo home run. Jose Altuve would leave the game after being drilled by a pitch in the fifth inning. Salvador Perez would add a double and a sac fly by Ronald Acuña Jr. Luis Arraez would add his second home run of the game and Venezuela would take a 7-5 lead. Trea Turner hit a go-ahead grand slam and the US would win 9-7.
