Sergio Aguero reveals he will be with Argentina squad at Qatar World Cup

Sergio Aguero has said he will be part of Argentina’s backroom staff at the World Cup in Qatar this year.Aguero, 33, announced his retirement in December because of a heart condition, ending his professional career with 427 goals in 786 games for clubs Independiente, Atletico Madrid, Manchester City and Barcelona.The former striker said that he had met with Argentine Football Association (AFA) president Claudio Tapia on Monday and agreed to work with the national team, although his exact role in Qatar still needed to be decided.“We still need to figure out the role, but I’ll be with the team at the World Cup,” Aguero told TyC Sports. “It was a nice talk with Chiqui (Tapia).”He added: “I want to spend time with the players. I’ll be there with the team, I get along very well with them. I want to be close to them and try to have fun. “I want to find a way I can help the national team.”Aguero scored 41 goals in 101 games for the Argentine national team, representing them at three World Cups and helping them to win the 2021 Copa America alongside Lionel Messi.Argentina have already qualified for Qatar 2022 and are among the favourites to win the tournament.
