OL Reign hire Nick Perera, captain of U.S. beach soccer men’s national team, as general manager

OL Reign hired veteran indoor and beach soccer player Nick Perera as its general manager on Wednesday, the club announced. Perera, 35, has also served as the executive director of Washington Youth Soccer, where he created programming for the state's soccer communities.Perera currently plays for the Tacoma Stars of the Major Arena Soccer League and is captain of the U.S. beach soccer men's national team, as well as an elected member of the U.S. Soccer Athlete Council."He brings a wealth of valuable experience to the team and has incredible passion for the game," CEO Vincent Berthillot said in a statement. "Nick’s values and goals fit well with our mission here at OL Reign and he is an experienced leader. We are confident that he will positively contribute to our club from a soccer perspective but also to the culture of our club."OL Reign had the second-best regular-season record last season at 13-8-3 before losing in the semifinals.
