Norwich City officially take control of women’s team

Norwich City Women have become an official part of Norwich City Football Club. The Premier League outfit will now manage the women’s team on a day-to-day basis, bringing its operations in-house.The team was originally set up and run by volunteers, operating almost entirely independently of the men’s teams despite carrying the name Norwich City and wearing the same kit.In recent years however the relationship between the two clubs has been redefined and strengthened, to the point of absorbing the women’s team fully into Norwich City’s senior and youth teams.Zoe Ward, Norwich City business and project director, said: “When the chair, Louise Riseborough, took the decision to step down, it seemed like an opportune moment to look to bring them in-house.“Working closely with the Community Sports Foundation (CSF), we will now take time to properly evaluate and take stock of where the teams are at.“As we move forward, we’re very excited to be welcoming the women’s teams to the wider Norwich City family and seeing how they grow and develop over the coming years.”(Photo: Simon Larkins / Norwich City FC)
