SEATTLE — Major League Baseball is looking into Wednesday night’s benches-clearing incident between the Houston Astros and Seattle Mariners, during which Astros reliever Hector Neris allegedly shouted a homophobic slur in Spanish toward Mariners outfielder Julio Rodríguez, per league source.
Neris apologized for his actions in a statement Thursday, but called allegations that he used a homophobic slur “simply incorrect.”
