Mexico faced off against Canada in the 2023 World Baseball Classic. In the first inning, Rowdy Tellez soft-served a two-run single to give Mexico an early 2-0 lead. Canada responded in the first inning, thanks to Otto Lopez’s RBI single. In the second inning, Randy Arozarena hammered an RBI double to add to Mexico’s lead over Canada, 3-1. In the fourth inning, In the fourth inning, Bo Naylor responded for Team Canada with a home run to bring the deficit to 3-2. In the sixth inning, Randy Arozarena hit a three-run double and Joey Meneses hit an RBI single to give Mexico a 7-2 lead over Canada. Mexico would end up defeating Canada 10-3 to advance to the next round.
