Cam Newton got the start in the New England Patriots’ preseason opener last night against the Washington Football Team. He played two series, including a nine play drive that led to a field goal. Patriots’ fans gave Mac Jones a standing ovation when he entered the game. The rookie quarterback went 13-of-19 for 87 yards and led two field goal drives of his own.
