Manchester City have said they are “shocked and appalled” after footage emerged appearing to show Phil Foden and his family being abused backstage at a boxing match on Saturday night.The video, which appeared on social media on Sunday morning, showed a confrontation between a group of men and a group including Foden at the AO Arena in Manchester, where Kell Brook was fighting Amir Khan.City said they would offer support to the 21-year-old England international, who had played the full 90 minutes in the 3-2 home defeat by Tottenham Hotspur earlier in the day.A City statement read: “The club is aware of a video which has circulated on social media showing Phil Foden and his family being harassed and abused.“We are shocked and appalled about the nature of the abuse and ensuing assault on one of Phil’s family members.“We will continue to give Phil and his family all the support and assistance they need.”Foden is not due to be in action for City until next Saturday when the Premier League leaders face Everton at Goodison Park.Greater Manchester Police have been contacted for comment.(Photo: Tom Flathers/Manchester City FC via Getty Images)
