Everton midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin is closing in on a loan move to CSKA Moscow. While there are still details to iron out, it’s understood that there is hope that a temporary deal until the end of the season will be completed before the Russian transfer window closes on Tuesday.Gbamin, 26, has endured a torrid time with injuries since his £25 million move from Mainz to Everton in 2019, making just six league appearances for the Merseyside club.Three of those appearances have come this season, with the last a 19-minute cameo in the 1-1 draw with Chelsea in December.Gbamin sustained a quadricep injury shortly after joining Everton, before suffering a major Achilles problem on his return and then a medial collateral ligament injury last April.Under new manager Frank Lampard, Everton also brought in two midfielders in the January transfer window. Donny van de Beek arrived on loan from Manchester United until the end of the season, while Dele Alli joined permanently from Tottenham Hotspur.CSKA Moscow sit fourth in the Russian Premier League, eight points behind leaders Zenit.(Photo: Emma Simpson – Everton FC/Everton FC via Getty Images)
