David de Gea has urged his Manchester United team-mates to kill games after his side ended their three-game winless run by defeating Brighton 2-0. United had previously lost to Middlesbrough on penalties in the FA Cup and drawn with Burnley and Southampton in the Premier League despite taking one-goal leads before failing to capitalise on their first-half dominance. A nervy Old Trafford was fearing a late equaliser by 10-man Brighton until Bruno Fernandes sealed the victory with a 90th-minute goal to add to Cristiano Ronaldo's opener.“I was there saying, ‘Come on, we have to kill the game’ because, in the Premier League, you never know,” said a relieved De Gea after Tuesday's win at Old Trafford.“Even with 10 players they can score so the goal was too late, but at least we scored the second goal. We should have scored much earlier, we had a couple of good chances and then you suffer when you don't score the goal. You don't kill the game, you suffer.“They are a good team, they know how to play, but this is football. We win the game and we are happy.“To be honest, I think we had control of the game in the second half. The first half wasn't the best, they had a couple of good chances but then we reacted very well in the second half.“We scored a goal, we got the red card for them. Even like this, we gave a couple of chances at the end.” Manchester United's win saw Ralf Rangnick's side leapfrog West Ham into fourth spot in the Premier League.
